Instead, it offers vast landscape and solitude on a very different level, one where you may be secluded from others but become very much a part of space itself. A retreat cradled within the amber folds of the Namib Desert, the Gondwana Collection recently released its newest two-person pod called the Desert Whisper.

This exclusive hideaway does not attempt to overwhelm guests with grand gestures or excessive opulence. Instead, it offers something far rarer. Silence, solitude and a profound connection to some of the oldest landscapes on Earth.  

At first glance, Desert Whisper seems almost unreal. An architectural cocoon perched against the arid desert, standing alone in a vastness so complete, time feels suspended. But the magic of the place is not merely in its design. It lies in its philosophy too. The property is built around a single, compelling idea: that private space, untouched nature and intentional stillness can be the purest forms of luxury.  

Architecture that listens to the landscape  

At 124m², the space is cosy enough for two without feeling cramped. Designed by architect Sven Staby, he took his inspiration from the Nara Melon, a hardy fruit very common to this area that has been able to withstand the extreme desert climate and adapt. The whole structure was inspired to look like half a melon, as you can see the holes within the metal sheet on the exterior. The interior structure itself was built by artist Christian Hess, who was able to work hand in hand with Sven in order to achieve an out-of-this-world structure.  

The contemporary design in the most natural of surroundings allows for guests to have a luxurious experience without compromising on comfort. This stark contrast between the two also allows for the desert to shine all on its own. The arid landscape, endless views as far as the eye can see as well as the feeling of being immersed in these surroundings is unmatched. The design itself, with its curved lines, earthy colours and stone textures, harmonise effortlessly with the desert around it. Giant windows frame the Namib like an ever-changing artwork, turning dunes, cliffs and sky into living murals. 

Inside, the design is minimalist yet warm. The open-plan space flows from kitchen to lounge to bedroom, with the edges dissolving into panoramic views. Every detail seems placed with intention: soft lighting that mimics the desert glow, furnishings in natural wood and stone, and textiles that echo the muted palette of sand and rock. This is luxury that whispers and doesn’t shout. Nothing competes with the landscapes, and nothing needs to.  

Trouble in paradise  

Probably the biggest challenge for this build was the location. According to the Gondwana team, the outcropping only has one road up and down, which is solely accessible with a 4×4 vehicle. So while the view and the setting are incredible, they also made things extremely complicated with the construction process. Due to the setting, the entire structure was built on stilts to not only allow for additional cooling in the desert, but to also help avoid the need for a complex foundation. All the structure’s wooden panels were prepared in the capital city, Windhoek, then shipped to site and assembled by the team on the ground. Although the process was long and intense, the end result made it all worth it.

A symphony of solitude  

What sets this space apart is not only its aesthetic but also its respect for quietude. Silence here is not the absence of sound but the presence of something deeper — a hush that allows guests to hear themselves again.

Three Dikgosi Monument

Hoi An: Vietnam’s Yellow Riverside Town

A Unesco World Heritage site since 1999, this Vietnamese city sits on the Thu Bon River just 27 kilometres south of Da Nang. In 2025 it was rated the world’s cheapest long-haul destination in the UK Post Office’s annual Long Haul Holiday Report which determines which faraway places give travellers the best value for their money.  

The real reason to visit, though, is to experience a place that is, for many, like walking through a living artwork — most of its houses, monuments, temples and old wooden shops are in gorgeous shades of mustard yellow. Depending on the light and the time of day, it glimmers and glows in various shades of gold and sunflower, deep ochre and bright saffron — hence its ‘Yellow City’ moniker.  

Its yellow sheen isn’t merely for decorative effect. For Vietnamese people, yellow is symbolic of harmony, happiness and prosperity, and so its streets embody a sense of pride – a happy glow, if you will. Hoi An also transports you back in time. The city rather miraculously survived the terrible, prolonged war that shook this part of the world until 1975 and, still, its old town remains magnificently intact. And because its streets are so ancient, they’re too narrow for cars, while motorbikes are only permitted to enter during certain hours. These cobblestone roads are lined with wooden merchant houses, ornate temples and assembly halls mostly dating from the 1700s – some 844 of its almost 1000 heritage buildings are listed as historical monuments.  

While it’s no longer a thriving commercial port town, you can watch fishermen launching their bamboo basket boats from the river’s palm-fringed beaches and there are scenes of farmers in conical hats harvesting rice from their paddies or tending their shrimp and fish ponds.  

You can explore the area on foot or cycle through coconut groves, keeping watch for wallowing water buffalo and see flocks of ducks being coaxed into the canals by farmers. 

A good place to savour some of the local cuisine is at the main Hoi An Market, a barn-like space where you’ll find tables groaning under the weight of papaya and dragon fruit. In the main hall, you’ll find scores of glass hutches packed with plates of orange shrimp and spring rolls. Don’t forget to pick up an iced Vietnamese coffee — and do linger long enough to see what becomes of the town’s yellow hues at sunset. 

Izamál: The Yellow City Of Yucatan

Recognised in 2002 as one of Mexico’s ‘Pueblos Magicos’ (magical towns), Izamál is the oldest, yellowest and most magical pueblo in the Yucatan Peninsula. 

It’s long been a pilgrimage site that lures religious visitors who believe the city’s saintly statues perform miracles but, for travellers, it’s not just the serenity of its streets but the glorious sensation of being in a town that’s been painted almost entirely in yellow — the effect is dazzling, like being in a movie.  

Today, Izamál is a fusion of Mayan and colonial influences, and the religion practiced here is a somewhat syncretic Catholicism. While its yellow-walled Convent in the heart of the town was built in 1561 atop Mayan ruins at a time when colonial authorities tried to eradicate indigenous beliefs, most pilgrims continue to honour more ancient Mayan traditions by climbing the ruins of the 35-metre-high Kinich Kakm6 pyramid, built to the Mayan sun god. There are, in fact, some 80 pre-Hispanic archeological structures in and around Izamál, including a network of roads more than a thousand years old, hinting at the great power that the city once exerted across the region. 

 Izamál’s overwhelming yellowness is a fairly recent development, the result of Pope John Paul II’s announcement in 1993 that he was visiting the town. In preparation, officials decided to spruce the place up, painting first the Convent (also known as St Antony’s Monastery) and all the surrounding buildings bright yellow. Conveniently, many of the town’s houses were already yellow, probably due to a long-standing reverence for the sun god and in honour of the region’s staple crop, corn.  

And since there is yellow on the Vatican flag, they’ve ensured that the town is dutifully respectful of Catholicism, too. It’s an off-the-beaten-track town, all of it walkable and mostly free to see — and relatively quick to explore, although worth taking time to savour. Walking the narrow cobblestone streets (or from a horse-drawn carriage), you’ll see women wearing traditional white dresses known as huipils, which are embroidered with flowers, and you’ll hear Yucatec Maya, also known as Máaya Táan, spoken on the streets — for most of the residents, it’s their first language, attesting to the preservation of an ancient heritage. 

You can taste its ancient traditions, too. Yucatán cuisine combines Mayan, Spanish and Caribbean influences to produce dishes such as sopa de lima (lime soup), poc chuc (marinated grilled pork) and cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork) — you will not go hungry. 

A yellow stay in the heart of the karoo 

In the Great Karoo, the pretty town of Prince Albert sparkles in a fertile, pretty valley below the majestic Swartberg mountains. 

Here, The Yellow House is a working almond and citrus farm with accommodations in a handful of restored self-catering guest cottages. Owned and managed by people who absolutely love the colour yellow, it’s a special place, situated less than 2km from the centre of town. Its buildings mostly date from the late-1800s, built around the time the great engineer Thomas Bain was carving out the Swartberg Pass, which links Prince Albert with the Little Karoo. It’s a fabulous place to chill and take in the infinite pleasures of the enfolding area: breathtaking mountains, wonderful star-filled night skies and so many good places to eat, shop and explore. yellowhouse.co.za

Defined by its medieval sandstone castle rising up in the heart of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer is a far-flung frontier town that’s long been known as the ‘Golden City’. And while it was once a place of extreme wealth, the golden glint has nothing to do with precious metal and everything to do with the manner in which its yellow stone buildings absorb sunlight and — at sunset, especially — radiate a warm, golden-hued glow. 

It really does glisten like something out of a fairytale, and you can witness this effect from out in the desert itself, from the rooftop of one of the havelis (mansions) at the foot of the fortress, or from within Jaisalmer Fort itself. The magic of this ancient structure, known as Sonar Killa or the Golden Fort, is that it is still inhabited today, making it the oldest living fortified city in Rajasthan, India’s so-called ‘Land of Princes’. About a thousand people dwell in what can feel like a congested, crowded, chaotic cobblestone maze lined with spice shops and trinket stalls, museums and tucked-away restaurants. 

Situated 285 kilometres west of Jodhpur (aka ‘the Blue City’) on the far western border of India (55km from Pakistan), Jaisalmer was founded in 1156. Its walls rise some 9m from a roughly triangular base on Trikuta Hill and it’s buttressed by 99 bastions. 

Its location — on a once crucial trade route — was strategic and enabled its Rajput leaders and the Jain merchants who set up shop here to collect enormous taxes from the silk-, opium- and spice-laden caravans that passed through the desert between the 14th and 16th centuries. It’s why there are so many beautifully carved havelis built of sandstone within the fortress and in the sprawling town that sits below its bastions, edging into the desert. 

There’s plenty to see within the fortress itself, including the seven-storey Raj Mahal (or Maharajah’s Palace, now a museum), several Jain temples, always immaculately maintained, and the Shri Laxminath temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess. The fortress has been the scene of many military sieges and it’s fascinating to ascend its battle-scarred ramparts and simply explore — do look out, though, for pickpockets, potholes, cows (who frequently block the way) and cow dung, often in big, wet, steaming piles. 

It’s worth dodging these minor obstacles, of course — splendid views are to be had from the cannon ramparts that hang overhead. From up there, you get superb views of the city below and the enfolding desert plateau. You can also take a camel ride across the desert, perhaps with a picnic somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. On the ride back to town, that shimmering fortress is like a squat tower of molten gold.

Spice, sisterhood and sunsets 

They headed out to the ‘Spice Island’ at the end of September, with the climate at its peak — perfect for a beach holiday. Met with clear, sunny days and warm temperatures of around 26°C, touching down in Zanzibar felt like stepping into a dream.  

The humid air, the scent of spices drifting on the breeze and the impossibly turquoise Indian Ocean welcomed the group at every turn. For many of the ladies, it was their first time leaving South Africa, making every detail — from the palm-lined pool to the soft white sand – all the more surreal.  

Sasha-Lee Sampson, a passionate creative and freelancer specialising in digital design and social-media marketing, says travelling overseas had always been a dream of hers, which is why her husband encouraged her to enter the competition.  

“What intrigued me most was the chance to step out of my comfort zone and be part of something unforgettable,” she says. “For me, this was so much more than just a competition; it was an opportunity to create lifelong memories and finally explore a destination I’ve always dreamt of visiting.”  

True to its name, the Spiced Girls Edition came with education on all the greats: cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. Each unique aroma filled the air as the women discovered Zanzibar’s centuries-old spice heritage. Between laughter, selfies and wide-eyed wonder, the trip soon became less about the spices and more about the bonds being formed. Conversations flowed, glasses clinked and the sound of Swahili music carried across the waves.  

“The Ginger Bar at the Riu Palace Hotel was definitely the place to be,” Sasha-Lee admits. “That’s where all the vibes were. Great coffee, amazing cocktails, good music, live shows and plenty of dancing and socialising.”

Diversity at play  

Lameez Abzal, a secretary at the SAPS Provincial Office, says that she most enjoyed visiting the spice farms and taking a traditional boat cruise to Prison Island.  

“The giant tortoises on the island were a highlight! You can feed and interact with them and learn about conservation efforts. This experience has changed my life by broadening my perspective and inspiring me to explore more of Africa’s hidden gems. I’ve learned to appreciate the simple things in life and value cultural diversity,” she says.  

“One travel hack I’d share is to pack light, versatile clothing that can be mixed and matched. Additionally, researching local customs and traditions beforehand can greatly enhance your travel experience. And learning key phrases like jambo, that means ‘hello’, asanti (‘thank you’) and my personal favourite, hakuna matata (‘no worries’).”  

Stone Town brought history and culture to life. Narrow alleyways, bustling markets and the rhythmic beat of island life unfolded before them. Suga and Jamie-Lee guided the women on excursions as they visited local artisan shops, discovered handcrafted jewellery, colourful kikois and Zanzibar’s iconic wood carvings. Between bargaining at the markets and savouring street food, like Zanzibar pizza (a sort of stuffed pancake), the ladies soaked up every bit of the island’s vibrant energy.  

Nifty travel tips  

Pack light, breathable fabrics, a chic pair of sunnies, comfortable shoes and flip-flops. But leave space in your bag for Zanzibari treasures like spices, woven baskets and handcrafted jewellery. Keep liquids in a waterproof bag, pack an extra outfit in your hand luggage, and don’t forget a power bank and plasters for emergencies.  

“This whole experience inspired me to want to travel more and live my best life,” Chantel August admits. She describes herself as an independent woman and ‘hustler’ who has multiple entrepreneurial pursuits in the Cape. “I had this whole picture in my mind of meeting my Prince Charming on the island, but that didn’t happen… maybe next time!” she laughs.  

Chantel was fortunate enough to celebrate turning 42 in Zanzibar — definitely a birthday for the books! While some women chose to go swimming in the sea off the Nakupenda Sandbank, a temporary white-sand islet, others opted for spa treatments overlooking the ocean.  

Glowing with gratitude 

Janine Schouw, who works in HR, initially thought it would be great to win this prize with her best friend as she would have loved a girls’ getaway on an island – which is what she got in the end.  

She says she was most excited about the warm, crystal-clear ocean. “And the Freddie Mercury Museum was on the top of my list. I mean, we even got to see a dolphin swim past our boat!”  

The trip provided much-needed relaxation, from ‘floating breakfasts’ in the pool to sun-soaking on the sand. Dressed in breezy island wear and beach-ready looks, Jamie-Lee, Suga and the group embodied holiday style goals, turning every moment into an Instagram-worthy snapshot.

“The ladies were so beautiful and everyone came fully prepared to change outfits at least four times a day,” says Chantel.  

For these winners, the Heart FM Women at Heart: The Spiced Girls Edition was far more than just a holiday. It was an affirmation of the power of women supporting women, of shared experiences becoming lifelong memories, and of stepping out of comfort zones into unforgettable adventures.  

“Zanzibar has been on my wish list for years, but family responsibilities came first, so travelling had to take a back seat,” says mom of two and wife Alexis van Reenen.

We’ve all been there. The WhatsApp group chat explodes with excitement as someone says: “Let’s go on a girls trip!” Support is rallied, mood boards are created and research about the options of where and when to go are all in full swing. A few weeks later, the dopamine has worn off and the excitement about travelling together slowly fades. Excuses start rolling in and eventually the trip is nothing more than an idea that never left the group chat. Well, all this is about to change. It’s time that every potential trip becomes an actual holiday — here is how to make the idea a reality.  

Size does matter 

 The truth is the bigger the group, the bigger the problems. Travelling in a larger group sounds more fun in theory, but trying to align everyone’s interests, needs and ideas will take a lot before this trip can happen. Perhaps stick to traveling with a group of 4-6 when going overseas. It is usually easier to book activities, transport and accommodation for this amount of people, so in this case smaller works best. Accept that no trip will work for everyone. Waiting for a miracle alignment of schedules is a sure-fire way to stay stuck. Instead, pick a date range that works for the majority and commit. Whoever can join will be there, and the others have the option to join at a different time.  

Show me the money  

Money talk can get a little awkward but transparency prevents drama, so it’s always better to be honest upfront. Decide as a group and agree early on a budget bracket that suits everyone, so no one will feel pressured or left behind. Whether it’s a luxury getaway or a budget-friendly trip, clarity ensures everyone is on the same page. Trips can be catered to any budget, so be wary of your friend’s financial status so that everyone feels comfortable with the holiday plans in place.  

When it comes to finances, consider planning trips well in advance. Setting a goal for a trip the following year will give everyone enough time to save money for the upcoming holiday however possible, whether it’s putting money aside every month or paying a deposit and going from there. Nine to 12 months is a good average for how far in advance to start saving for that overseas trip.  

The leader of the pack 

 Appoint a trip captain. In every friend group there is at least one spreadsheet-loving planner or decisive personality — this is their time to shine. Without someone steering the trip, the conversation will spiral and decisions will take longer to make. This doesn’t mean the captain has to plan everything but just spearhead the logistics. This includes securing flights, booking the accommodation and setting the deadlines. If there’s more than one person who enjoys doing this, perhaps take turns with the role so the next holiday, a new leader can be in charge to ensure the trip goes off as planned.  

Go with the flow 

Once the basic plans are set, resist the urge to plan out every little detail for the entire group. A loose itinerary keeps the trip balanced. For example, plan one activity a day with enough downtime for spontaneous adventures. Remember, the goal is bonding with your besties, not ticking off a bucket list for every tourist attraction. Lock in those details, then make the bookings ahead of time. The excitement will build again from when that flight is booked, or the visa is in sight.  

A girls trip will have its ups and downs, but what is important is how you are all able to come together to create lasting memories and an unforgettable bonding experience. All that’s left to do is catch flights and feelings with your friends this summer.  

Local Girly Getaways  

Depending on what type of staycation you’re looking for, we’ve rounded up a few options that you and all your girlfriends are going to love:  

1. Franschhoek: Wine farms aplenty and mountain ranges spanning for kilometres, this is the perfect spot to gather the girls and enjoy great food and even better company. The Saturday market is also ideal for thrifting as well as finding a few local beauties. 
2. Langebaan: Enjoy seaside chilling with bonfires on the beaches and the soft sounds of the water crashing along the shoreline. Langebaan is a quaint beach town with everything you need for the ideal weekend away. 
3. Drakensberg: Meander around the midlands while exploring the fresh, crisp air, hiking to some pretty waterfalls and getting lost in nature. About a 2-hour drive from Durban, escape to the Drakensberg with the ladies for the best few days away. 
4. Sun City: Party it up in the middle of Pilanesberg while still enjoying the sun. Sun City is a world on its own that allows you and your girls to revel in game drives, water slides and more than enough fun to enjoy for the weekend. You’ll be feeling like a kid all over again.

Aardt’s Starlit Cabin 

Klein Karoo, Western Cape  

Cradled beneath a rugged koppie in the vast expanse of the Klein Karoo, the Starlit Cabin is a masterclass in architecture that harmonises with raw nature. Starlit Cabin is a collaborative vision of Joram Design, the interior sister-company of internationally recognised furniture studio Meyer von Wielligh and designers, Abrie and Jorika von Wielligh. Designed with a deep reverence for the land, the structure is engineered from sustainable materials such as stone, clay, wood and mud that were thoughtfully chosen to tread lightly on the earth. The discarded metal grain silo, salvaged from a local farmer, has been repurposed into a sculptural front door, a wood-fired outdoor hot tub, and an expansive skylight above the bed which teleports guests to the mystic cosmos of the Klein Karoo. Three-quarters of the structure sits below ground, echoing the desert burrows of the Karoo and providing a sheltered retreat. Organic curves flow through the interior in custom furnishings, as every room pays tribute to the owners’ abiding love for nature’s artistry. Outside, the landscape is sculpted into a desert oasis as indigenous plants and cacti frame the view, while lounge chairs, a fire pit and hot tub invite long sun-soaked days and starlit evenings.

Sand Cabin at Nima Lodge

Katrinasrust Nightjar 

Machadodorp, Mpumalanga  

As far as couple getaways go, this property has been designed for lovers, by lovers. With help from family and farm crew, the host couple have poured their hearts into designing and building the Nightjar. An idyllic romantic hideaway, this place is embraced by nature, where uninterrupted romance feels woven into every detail. The earthy interior is foreshadowed by the cabin’s enchanting timber-clad exterior immersed within the bush. The interior is the host’s personal love-letter to functional beauty, blending unique accents and finishes with finely made furniture as well as elements crafted from oak, cypress and cedar harvested on the property. Even the bed, vanity, kitchen and breakfast nook have been lovingly shaped from a large oak slab sourced right from their farm. There’s a certain magic that happens when you step off the plane in a foreign country – the kind that speaks to your soul, whispers with exciting possibilities and servings of tenacity with a side of sophistication. Greece has always been at the top of my bucket list when it came to travelling. From the food to the culture, the tiny cobble streets, the crisp white villas and the oh-so-blue waters, I wanted to experience it all. However, travelling on your own can be a little daunting, so I found myself a group of like-minded women who were embarking on similar journeys and off we went — ready to explore a new country and discover a new way of life.  

I learnt so much and thought it fitting to share the knowledge I gained with you — even if it’s just to spark your interest. So if you’re keen on boarding a flight to picturesque Greece, indulging in platters of seafood galore and dancing until the sun rises, let’s create your perfect dreamy European summer. 

Share more, pay less  

As South Africans, our rand isn’t as strong when it comes to exploring international waters. Booking your trip 9-12 months in advance will really help you with time as you save up for it, so you can party and shop on holiday almost guilt-free. Travelling with a partner or a friend also helps in sharing the accommodation costs, as most places are a 2-sleeper (single sleepers are just more expensive). Another thing to note is that the meal portions in Greece are truly massive, so much so that sharing with a friend or partner is completely possible to make it through the trip. So on average, if a meal is around €13 (euros), you’ll look at about €6.50 per person, which then roughly works out to R135 – the price we already pay in South Africa for some meals. Be aware that not all islands are priced the same, and some really are more expensive than others. Santorini and Mykonos are tourist central so all their prices are hiked up (we paid €18 for a cocktail in Mykonos, which is roughly R370, so let that sink in).  

The lesser travelled islands, such as Naxos or Paros, are a bit more reasonable. Bonus tip: If your accommodation offers breakfast, eat up in the morning then take some fruit with you for a snack later on.  

Light as a feather  

Believe it or not, but it is highly possible to travel for two weeks with nothing but two cabin-sized bags and a small backpack (I did!). This does take a bit of meticulous planning but if done right, you can travel light to keep movement between the islands easy and stress-free. Start by planning your wardrobe and create your own holiday capsule collection; this includes dual pieces that work double or triple time, neutral staples that can be dressed up or down, and 3 to 4 pairs of shoes to tie each outfit together. Go big with accessories to change the whole vibe of your look. Those cobble streets are not for the faint of heart, especially when you’re rolling a +20kg bag around, moving up hills and getting lost in the little alley ways. Travel lighter, move quicker (you’ll thank me later).  

Travel agent vs booking yourself  

If you want to have a bit more of a stress-free break, use a travel agent you can trust. While it may be cheaper to book it all yourself, sometimes you can be bogged down by the research, options and reviews. There is so much to go through, and a lot of the time it can feel very overwhelming. Booking through an agent will help you to relax more and fully have the holiday you want. For this Greece trip in particular, I booked it through Fem Power Luxury Travel, which caters to solo female travellers. They put together the entire holiday, leaving you to just enjoy your time on the islands while they take care of the transfers, food, accommodation, activities and more. All you get to do is stress about which bikini you need to put on when heading out to the beach.  

Think ahead  

The ferries that move between the islands are wild to travel on – it feels like you’re part of a bunch of cattle being herded off Noah’s Ark. However, they are the most cost-effective way to island hop and best to be booked in advance. Certain activities on the islands should also be booked ahead of time, especially if you travel during the peak summer season. If you want to save a few coins, a good tip is to travel in their off-peak time, which is either just before the European summer starts in May or just as it is ending in September. The crowds are less, the prices a bit better, and the vibes are still vibing.  

In Wi-Fi we trust 

Let’s be honest, the islands don’t have the best network at times. Internet is slow at some places, making it difficult to upload images, send pics or videos back home, or even do a WhatsApp call to family. For this reason, if you need to stay in touch with your loved ones, get a local sim card. However if staying unplugged is the plan, just use the free Wi-Fi whenever you can. Almost all the accommodations have network, even if it’s not the strongest. The restaurants you visit and some public spaces such as the Paros waterfront will also have network.

Using Wi-Fi allows you to unplug from your life for a bit and be present in the moment, soaking up the sights and sounds around you. When will you ever be in that spot again to take it all in? Consider staying off the grid for just a bit while you travel — I mean, that’s how they travelled back in the ’80s and ’90s, right?  

What to know about each island  

Paros

Not as popular as the other islands, but still so much fun. Teal blue seas everywhere you look and the waterfront area is where the party is at.  

Naxos

Still underdeveloped in certain areas and very rich in their history. The waterfront/port area is quite busy with tourists and there are tons of restaurant choices.  

Mykonos

The most expensive of all the islands, but you party from sunrise to sunset. Go for the vibe, but it’ll cost you.  

Santorini

Very touristy and a bit pricey, but so picturesque from every angle. It gets quite busy in the popular spots.

Why attend: It’s more than a street parade; it’s a celebration of love and unity! Last year’s event attracted a record 40 000 people. It’s the largest annual pride event on the continent, committed to liberation, equal rights, acceptance and celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community for the past three decades. Mark your diary for 25 October 2025 and enjoy dazzling costumes and floats, and performances by DJs, drag artists and musicians. There will also be a Queer Met Gala on 18 October and the Secret Venue event on 11 October.
