The South African Music Awards is a highly anticipated event on South Africa’s music entertainment calendar. While it certainly is exciting to set your predictions as to who you suspect to bag an award each year, what we’re really excited about are the hits and misses when it comes to red carpet fashion! Here are our top picks for best dressed at this year’s South African Music Awards!

24 Karat magic in the air 

This was the 24th annual South African Music Awards, and perhaps the theme was a source of inspiration for many of the nominees. Twenty-four karat rang true to the inspiration behind a number of the dazzling gowns to grace the red carpet. Embellishments, jewel tones and shimmer were the order of the night. Silver and gold toned gowns dazzled the the carpet, intricately embellished with tassels, sequins and feathers with accessories kept to the minimal. Here are our top shimmering favorites.

Drama, drama and more drama!

Red carpet events are certainly the perfect opportunity to try something bold and daring, and let’s just say these ladies didn’t hold back! Dramatic ruffles, thigh-high slide slits, peek-a-boo mesh and extra long trains – it was all part of the parade of daring, jaw-dropping looks we saw this past weekend. The mood is all about feeling yourself and thriving in that confidence. These ladies command our attention – and a spot on our best dressed list!
