Last night, the 2018 American Music Awards, the AMA’s, opened with an incredible performance from Taylor Swift; the first in 3 years! Not only did Taylor put on a performance (singing her song “I Did Something Bad” from her album Reputation) that wow’d the audience, but she also walked away with the award for Best Album and broke the record of being the only female to win 22, breaking Whitney Houston’s record of 21.

Many of your favourite music stars walked away with awards from Cardi B to Khalid and Migos. Cardi made her debut AMA performance with her hit single, I Like It with Bad Bunny and J Balvin and absolutely killed it – a debut that was a force to be reckoned with. A heartwarming tribute to Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who passed away in August, was performed by popular gospel singers like Mary Mary and Gladys Knight. Aretha Franklin started her career as a gospel singer at the New Bethel Baptist Church, where her father was a preacher, and in all her years of performing, she stayed true to her gospel roots.

The night was filled with political references, laughter and of course music. Performances by stars like Jennifer Lopez, Post Malone, Mariah Carey and Dua Lipa kept the crowd going and created the perfect AMA atmosphere.
