Whether a birthday, bachelor’s or a ‘just because we can’ break – planning a trip for you and the guys is an exciting forecast to look forward to. We give you five great planning tips so that your trip can go off without a hitch.
The smaller the group, the better
The first on your to-do list is to decide who is coming on the trip. They say the more, the merrier. But for a trip, the smaller the group, the better! Planning a trip with a big group can be a logistical nightmare. Three to five people can be a comfortable amount. You won’t have trouble finding accommodation for a smaller group and it’s a big win for everyone to carpool in fewer cars. Don’t be afraid to say no when they want to bring along other friends and cousins.
Keep the travel time to a minimum
Going away for a holiday is fun, but it doesn’t help to spend half of your trip travelling to your destination. Make your journey a fun time – not a long time. Going away for the weekend? Choose a destination close enough so that all your mates can travel to the spot and get there by Friday evening so the fun can start early.
Keep your itinerary loose
Yes, planning is important. But don’t be that guy who keeps the schedule so tight that there is no room for spontaneity. If you are, chances are that you won’t be included on the next trip. Have a plan, but don’t be such a stickler that you get upset if you veer on a different course. Who knows what will happen? You may even find more fun activities when you explore your surroundings. It’s also important to plan a couple of hours of downtime on your trip to get energised for the next planned activity.
Divide and conquer tasks
Assign tasks to all the gents on the trip. Not only will it take the stress off yourself of planning a trip alone (no, thank you!), but everyone will have a say and take responsibility for their part. If you are in charge of booking the accommodation, another can take charge of the food, another the activities and someone else can sort out the travelling arrangements. Yes, of course, there will have to be someone overseeing that the different tasks are handled, but in this way, all of the responsibilities won’t fall on just one person.
Capture the memories
A guys’ trip is the perfect time to relax, break away from reality and spend some quality time with the gents. There is something about a trip together that strengthens the bond between friends. Take lots of pictures and videos. Not everything will be suited to posting on Instagram (have you ever seen The Hangover?), but you’ll be able to capture the best memories to speak and giggle about for years to come.
