The Perfect Meet-Cute
They first crossed paths in 2021 at an event called Two Acts &A Drink at Foxy Brown restaurant in Harfield Village, Cape Town. Dalin was one of the ‘acts’, performing stand-up comedy, while she came to support a friend. (Maxine herself had performed at the same gig a month before.) Little did they know they were on the cusp of something life-changing.
“He saw me while he was on stage and thought I was the best thing ever!” Maxine says.
“I found my foxy brown at the Foxy Brown!” Dalin quips. “I actually knew her brother, Vaughn, through the industry and friends of mine. So I went to go say ‘hi’ to him, and I was like, ‘Who’s this?’ and he told me it’s his sister… And I was like, ‘I’m going to chise this one!”
“It was instant chemistry,” Maxine gushes. Though, she admits, she had seen him perform before and didn’t think much then.
