Hisense has always delivered good value in TV tech, and the U6K model is our new well-priced hero. It brings together all the essential features of a modern TV, in an affordable package with few compromises. It sports a full array of mini-LED backlights to accurately light and dim zones of the screen image, and uses quantum dot tech to produce a bigger gamut of colours than before.
It all adds up to one of the best Hisense TV models we’ve ever tested: the picture is brilliant with natural colour balance, realistic skin tones, solid blacks and excellent contrast. The smart Gaming mode optimises input by dramatically cutting down lag. However, the panel is using standard (and perfectly good!) 60 Hz refresh, so it won’t display your new console in full glory, and it doesn’t support key PC graphics standards either. But Hisense has packed this set full of other tech including support for the latest video- and audio formats, with an AI-supported mode that detects what kind of media you’re watching – sports, film, and more – and subtly adjusts the picture accordingly.
The remote control has dedicated buttons for a few popular streaming channels, and Hisense’s own Vidaa operating system does an adequate job of helping you poke around both the technical and the content setup. The U6K is a collection of the most useful current tech for streaming TV and internet video, and is packaged at an affordable price, making it our low-price hero.
