The Icon H520 is a surprise winner in our gaming headphone shoot-out, offering excellent sound with deep rumbling bass and clear highs, for a reasonable price. It’s the best that the budget-gaming brand Redragon has to offer, and it stacks up well against more expensive brands by offering virtual 7.1 surround sound that actually works as expected, and a neat inline control for adjusting volume and muting the mic, which works out far better than grappling with a mix of buttons on the cups. We also appreciated the removable boom mic which makes the headset easier to handle when not gaming. Long-term comfort is really how gaming headsets should be measured, and here the H520 does quite well with decent padding on the cups and the right amount of head clamping pressure. There’s no RGB lighting here, but we didn’t miss it because the steel arms and headband (with excellent padding) look the part for gaming.
