Samsung claims you’ll get two days out of the battery of its A54, and they are not far off. The main reason for this is that the phone is well optimised for battery saving. It gathers the most stable and mature top tech of the past few years, such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, high-refresh AMOLED screen and, of course, 5G and pairs it with the latest Android 13 OS.
The result? A high-performing phone that is fully optimised for how it taxes your battery, which is to say, as little as possible. We got two full days of mixed use, with superb connectivity across the board. The 6.4-inch display is possibly the best in its class (we turned down the high- refresh 120 Hz to 60 Hz on the second day to save juice), it’s waterproof to IP67 and is covered with toughened Gorilla Glass on the front and back.
At 202 g, it is a little heavier than we’d like, and we’d be happier with a metal frame, not plastic, and a non-glass back cover, but otherwise, it manages everything from gaming to 5G with calm confidence. The A54 does 25 W fast charging, but there’s no charger in the box.
