Thinking of having an all-white kitchen? Not sure if it is the right decision? Here is a list of pros and cons that may help you decide.
Pros:
White kitchens are aesthetically pleasing and go with everything.
White kitchens are clean, crisp and match any decor style such as modern, classic, traditional or bohemian. And they go with every colour, so you won’t have to worry about your countertops, cabinet handles, or the rest of your decor clashing. White kitchens are also super forgiving, so if you decide you don’t like your current decor style, it will be a lot easier to swap out furniture than if you had a kitchen that was not white.
White kitchens are timeless.
Because white kitchens are timeless, you won’t have to spend tons of time and money renovating your kitchen to match the latest trend.
White kitchens can help sell your house better.
White kitchens have been proven to be the most popular amongst buyers because it’s easy to envision their own stuff when they have a blank canvas to look at, which will make them less anxious and keener to buy so even if you’re not considering selling yet or any time soon this could be something to look into!
White kitchens look bigger than other kitchens.
White reflects sunlight, so your kitchen will look larger even if it’s on the smaller side. White in general also makes a space look bigger, so even if there is not a lot of sunlight, your kitchen will still feel more open and less closed off.
Cons
White kitchens can get dirty, easily.
At first, everything looks so good, but white kitchens can soon start to show every fingerprint, smudge, stain, and because you’re in a kitchen, it’s hard to avoid or to do less of. They also show dust and dirt that would be seen less obviously if your kitchen was a darker colour.
White kitchens show wear-and-tear.
All kitchens will eventually need some sprucing up even if they’re looked after well, but with white kitchens, because they might not be a lot going on it may be more obvious. And also white kitchen cabinets may start turning yellow.
White kitchens can look clinical.
Depending on how you decorate your white kitchen it may look too open and clutter-free that it’s more like an exam room and not an integral part of your home.
There are many different shades of white to choose from.
You might think because you’re choosing white, you won’t have to worry about choosing a shade as you would with grey, for example, but you’re wrong! There are tons of different shades of white and because a lot of them are very similar, it may be a lot harder than if you were to choose another colour!
