Summer is amazing in so many different ways, but when it comes to fashion, the winter season is where the magic happens. Of course one can look great in the summer, but winter allows you the opportunity to layer and experiment with more pieces. Although there might be more clothing options in winter, winter fashion altogether is a lot more consistent than summer fashion, and not as ‘micro-trendy’. Here are some winter items for women that we are obsessed with.
Sweater bests, long puffer jackets and Chelsea boots
Gone are the days where sweater vests aren’t in. Thanks to the likes of Matilda Djerf, sweater vests have become huge. They look great layered over a white button down and are perfect for days that aren’t too cold. Sweater vests may potentially become another micro trend, but with their benefits, we feel like they will be around for a while. Long puffer jackets, are also on the scene at the moment, but did long jackets/coats ever really go out? Yes shorter puffer jackets were, and still are a thing, but long coats have always been an acceptable fashion choice and now with extra warmth, what could be better? They also have the ability to elevate any outfit from one dimensional and boring to classy and elegant. Chelsea boots especially in cream are probably the most ‘micro trendy’ out of the 3, but we can’t help but be obsessed. They are comfortable, versatile and completely encompass the whole neutral aesthetic we all love at the moment. They might not make it to the next winter season, but we really they do. Black Chelsea boots however, will be forever timeless,
Trench coats, blazers and flowy pants
Trench coats will always be in style, but oversized trench coats and jackets are definitely having there moment. This oversized moment won’t be in for too long as it doesn’t suit everyone, but in terms of coats being in neutral colours, that will always be a thing. The stripy coat on the right might not be as timeless as the grey trench coat, but it ever so slightly gives a Burberry check vibe, which will always be in style. Blazers, especially for women outside the workplace, is arguably the biggest fashion trend at the moment (yet another thanks to Matilda Djerf). Paired with pants, a skirt, jeans, you name it, they look amazing and classy. Blazers for casual wear, may be another trend that comes and goes, but we’re hoping for at least five years of longevity. Lastly we have flowy pants which can be categorized as anything not ‘skinny’ and tight fitting. Like all pants and jeans, a particular style is in for a certain time period, for the longest time it was high waisted skinny jeans, but now we are embracing more loose fitting styles. That doesn’t necessarily mean oversized or ill-fitting, but comfortable, and giving a more whimsical feel to your overall outfit. Flowy pants will be in for a long time, but in terms of timelessness skinny jeans will make there way back… or at least we think!
