Razaan and Imaad on beating the odds

They fell in love more than 10 years ago, and the rest has been bliss – with a flow of magical content-creation moments in between. We catch up with Razaan Meyer-Khan and Imaad Khan.

Teenage Razaan (15) and Imaad (16) would never have imagined they’d become #CoupleGoals online by 2025, spreading the love and being an inspiration for lovers alike.

With a combined audience of more than 400 000 Instagram followers, and well over a million on TikTok, the two lovebirds (now in their 20s) have attracted a dope fan base that enjoys all their funny at-home family videos, matching fashion moments, couple shoots and vlogs.

Getting a peek into their romance has been nothing short of a slice of heaven. And being on set with them… well, let’s just say, everyone felt the love!

Keeping it real

Though they wouldn’t exactly call themselves an ‘It Couple’ per se, Razaan and Imaad have made an undeniable impact on the social-media landscape, showing viewers that having a family (as Millennials) and pursuing one’s individual goals and passions is totally doable in this day and age – all with the help of their little superstar, Qurrah (nearly six years old).

“We think people see us as an ‘It Couple’ because we’ve been together for a long time and strive to be genuine and relatable. We’ve shared the lows of our journey and, of course, our highs too, and I think that type of authenticity resonates with our audience,” Razaan explains.

“Our relationship resonates with so many people because we prioritise communication, support and love. We aim to inspire others by showing that a strong partnership involves teamwork and understanding – and being best friends before anything else. Plus, we have fun together, and joy is always infectious!”

Together, they’ve been working on some new projects that have kept them quite busy, but they’ve also learned to prioritise their time better. As two entrepreneurs (Razaan has a cosmetics brand, Majestic Beauty, while Imaad heads his own glass and aluminium business, Glass Limitless), balancing work and family life can be challenging, but they’ve found a rhythm that works for them.

“When it comes to ‘feeling settled, every year brings new experiences and growth,” says Imaad. “We feel more in tune with each other as a married couple [their eighth anniversary is next month, and navigating parenthood has definitely strengthened our bond. We’re enjoying this phase of life and embracing the journey together.”

Love and R&B

In the last year, the couple has embraced a 90s-inspired aesthetic, filling their feeds with standout fashion and musical moments along the way, whether it be for fun or for campaign work with brands like Sportscene, Mr D and Vaseline, or events like Rocking the Daisies.

“We’ve always had a deep appreciation for the 90s R&B aesthetic. It’s a time that represents a lot of nostalgia and feel-good vibes,” Imaad enthuses. “The music and style from that era are timeless, with their soulful melodies and unique fashion sense. Incorporating 90s elements into our content allows us to express our personalities and creativity in a way that feels authentic. The era’s emphasis on genuine emotion and storytelling in music really resonates with us, and we love sharing that passion with our audience. Plus, it’s a fun way to connect with others who share the same love for the 90s!”

And while R&B serves as a backdrop for their content, it’s evident that the two enjoy each other’s tastes and style preferences, dressing each other for content and just playing around and experimenting with looks.

“Over the years, our tastes and style preferences have naturally influenced each other, and we’ve really enjoyed that process. Our style has become more aligned, and we often find ourselves gravitating towards similar looks, especially when it comes to that 90s vibe,” Razaan says.

“Styling each other has become a fun part of our routine. We enjoy experimenting with outfits and seeing how our individual tastes can complement one another.” She adds that it’s also great to have a partner who appreciates and inspires your fashion choices, and it makes getting ready together an enjoyable experience.

“We’re most grateful for the way we truly ‘get’ each other. Being on the same wavelength makes everything smoother, and our dynamic is really working well for us. It’s comforting to know that we have a deep understanding and shared vision, which strengthens our bond and makes our journey together even more fulfilling.”

A resonating romance

When it comes to maintaining a healthy relationship and keeping the spark alive, the digital content duo is all about keeping it real. Yes, being lovely-dovey is great and all, but marriage and relationships in general require work and mutual effort.

“Keeping the romance alive is something we prioritise by making time for each other amidst our busy schedules. We enjoy simple things like date nights at home, exploring new places together, and finding little ways to surprise each other,” says Imaad.

“As a Muslim couple in the limelight, we do face unique challenges. However, we focus on staying true to our values and setting boundaries that work for us. Our faith is an integral part of our relationship, and we find strength in it, using it as a guide to navigate societal expectations. By being open and authentic, we hope to show that it’s possible to balance personal beliefs with public life, and perhaps even inspire others in similar situations.”

It’s not always rose-tinted and smooth sailing, the couple admits. Arguments will happen, and learning to fight fair is a skill they’ve honed together.

“It’s important for us to listen to each other and understand each other’s perspectives,” Imaad explains. “We try to address issues calmly and work towards finding a solution together. In hard times, we lean on our shared values and support each other, reminding ourselves that we’re a team. Our advice for other young couples is to focus on building a strong foundation of trust and understanding. Don’t be afraid to seek guidance when needed, and always make time to nurture your relationship, even during busy or challenging periods.”

One thing the two are currently working on, to show appreciation for each other more often, is taking the time to express gratitude for the small, everyday things. “Sometimes a simple ‘thank you’ or a heartfelt note can mean so much,” Imaad adds.

Crush-ing content

This year, Razaan and Imaad are working on building a legacy through digital entrepreneurship by focusing on creating meaningful content that resonates with the audience they’ve been growing up with.

“We’re passionate about inspiring others and sharing our journey in a way that can make a positive impact. As for branching out, we definitely want to do more and explore new avenues,” Razaan says. “We have some exciting ideas in mind, but we’ll keep those on the low for now. Stay tuned, though! Our goal is to continue evolving and finding innovative ways to connect with and inspire our community.”

There are so many personal milestones on the couple’s list for the year ahead, like including going bigger and harder on their YouTube channel – because not everything is about short-form content and people still love a good old vlog and ‘day in the life of’ video.

“Travelling more is definitely on our list; we love exploring new places and cultures,” Razaan says. “We’re also excited about the prospect of buying our first home, which feels like a big step in our journey… We’re embracing the idea of abundance and all the opportunities that come our way. And, who knows, perhaps another baby might be on the cards? LOL!”

In parting, Razaan and Imaad wished ClubXers a very happy Valentine’s Day, saying: “Our message for the Month of Love is to embrace the beauty of connection, whether with your partner, friends or family. Love is not just about grand gestures; it’s found in the little moments of kindness, understanding and support.

Remember to communicate openly, appreciate each other’s uniqueness, and celebrate your journey together. Love is a continuous adventure, so cherish every step along the way. Here’s to cultivating joy, gratitude and abundance in all your relationships!”
