The one expense our team could cut – but absolutely won’t

We all have that one indulgence we could live without but choose not to. From skincare splurges to salon visits and takeout treats, our team spills the one expense they refuse to give up — no matter what the budget says. Because sometimes, joy, ease, and a little treat are priceless.

Zakariyah Less, Senior Designer

One expense I could cut is my internet or WiFi service. I’ve gone without home WiFi plenty of times before, so I can manage without it. Having it makes life so much more convenient. I’ve got way too many shows and movies queued across all my streaming platforms, even to consider it!

Busisiwe Rooibaard, Social Media Manager

I could easily stop getting silk presses at the salon and try doing them myself at home, but I refuse to. I’ve fought the good fight with my hair long enough and am finally choosing ease. There’s something truly freeing about removing one demanding task from my list and letting a professional handle it while I relax, breathe, and enjoy the ritual. It’s the one luxury I won’t give up because the peace, confidence, and the feeling afterwards are worth every penny.

Andisiwe Yali, Digital Traffic Manager

Every month, when I buy groceries, as a reward for successfully managing to be an adult, I’ll treat myself to some delicious meals from restaurants. Though giving up this expense would save me a lot of cash (for sure), the convenience is just too irresistible! After all those tiring workdays where I’m utterly drained? Uber Eats comes in clutch: twenty minutes later, voilà, dinners served without lifting a single pot and pan at home – sweet bliss.

Malika Johnson, Managing Editor

An expense I could give up but refuse to is skincare. For me, skincare is more than just a routine; it’s a form of self-care and a boost to my confidence. Taking the time to care for my skin helps me feel refreshed and ready to face the day. Although skincare products can be costly, they are an investment in my well-being. I’d rather cut back on other luxuries than give up the comfort and confidence that come from maintaining healthy, glowing skin.

I could easily give up buying new sneakers, but I refuse. Even if I only buy a pair once or twice a year, it gives me a boost of confidence and makes me feel like that girl. It’s more than just a purchase; it’s a little celebration, it’s like a reward, and a reminder that I’m allowed to enjoy the things that make me feel good (even if I become broke). Sure, I could save the money, but the joy and energy I get from unboxing and smelling a fresh pair are worth every cent.
