Get your endorphins pumping at these pulse-quickening hot spots
GuruCat Hot Yoga Studio | Umhlanga Rocks, KZN
While the thought of doing hot, sweat-inducing yoga in steamy Durban may sound like a stretch too far in summer, in winter you may just find the desired afterglow. The added benefit of doing yoga in a heated room is said to be that the hot environment quickly warms your muscles and joints for greater flexibility, so you are able to bend, twist and stretch to a greater degree. Plus, it’s said to help with weight loss as well as detoxification through sweating, and also positively affecting various systems within the body. While exercising in a hot room and sweating among strangers is not for everyone, many hot yoga practitioners also swear by the impact it has on stress levels, anxiety and sleeping habits.

The Climbing Barn | Mooiplaats, Tshwane
Rock climbing is a great means of strengthening your core and giving yourself a full-body workout. If you’re city-bound and can’t easily get to a mountain rock face, though, you need a good indoor climbing facility. The Climbing Barn is Tshwane’s premier spot for rock-climbing enthusiasts. You can simply pop in as a daily visitor, undergo training to complete the establishment’s two-hour ‘Learn to Lead’ course (available for anyone 14 years and older), or sign up for a membership. There are also special events you can look forward to, and you can plan birthday parties to be held onsite. There are braai facilities, too.
