Why We Love Viola Davis

She’s been taking the entertainment world by storm so there’s no wondering why this week’s beloved celebrity, being honoured, is none other than Viola Davis.

This phenomenal woman knows a thing or two about How To Get Away With Murder and kick down some high Fences – and she sure as hell isn’t letting her age stop her from achieving her goals and making history!

Viola was born on August 11, 1965, in a place known as St. Matthews of South Carolina, in the United States. Coming from humble beginnings, she made sure to obtain a great education, attending renowned institutions such as Rhode Island College  and the famous Juilliard School of performing arts. The critically revered actress is now known to take on diverse roles in TV and film, and has even progressed to producing over her many successful years in the industry.

As one of the most influential women in the world right now, it’s quite befitting that we celebrate all the reasons why we love Viola Davis.

Viola happens to be the only black woman to ever be nominated for 3 Academy Awards. She has also got one oscar under her belt, and is also the only black actor to receive the Triple Crown of Acting.

 


This year she won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, for the film Fences.

Viola is a great role model. Taking her education very seriously, Davis has majored in theatre at Rhode Island College, and received an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts in 2002.

 


With five siblings, she is a family orientated woman who has great values and morals.

 


Viola is a feminist hero who spreads the message that women need to embrace their bodies and learn to love themselves first before anyone else.
