All About Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens, known professionally as the famous Queen Latifah, is a multi-talented entertainer who is often referred to as ‘hip-hop’s first lady’. The star started out as a Burger King employee, and later blossomed into a teenage hip-hop icon. Today, she has worked herself up the music ladder, singing at the annual Super Bowl and in many films such as Bessie, and is now the co-founder of Flavor Unit Entertainment.

Despite her musical accolades, Queen Latifah is better known for her versatile acting ability,  making admirable inroads in TV, film and even artist management. The Hollywood A-lister has been the most memorable cast member in a plethora of films, such as Steel Magnolias, Beauty Shop, Taxi and Joyful Noise.

Queen Latifah plays the role of Sasha Franklin, in the jaw-dropping film Girls Trip, which is definitely a film worth making a trip to the cinemas for! The film has been breaking and setting new records in Black film history, and is challenging old stereotypes about Black women.
