Hisense celebrate one million connected VIDAA OS smart TVs in SA

Hisense now has over one million Hisense TVs running the VIDAA operating system in South Africa.  This is a huge milestone for the company and illustrates the popularity of both Hisense TVs and the VIDAA operating system.

It is also a particularly impressive achievement when you consider that almost half of these devices have been connected in the past two years. This shows that Hisense is experiencing tremendous growth in South Africa – and a big reason for this is the popularity of the VIDAA operating system. 

VIDAA OS 

VIDAA OS was launched in 2014, when engineers from Hisense delivered the first version of the OS to the manufacturing team. In March 2019 Hisense Group set up a separate company to develop the OS and its capabilities, which is why VIDAA today employs a user-centric approach to deliver outstanding experiences across its many apps and features. It is designed to make all the most popular local and international streaming apps accessible to local users with a single button press.  

In total, VIDAA OS supports more than 400 global content providers – all of which can be accessed in several ways. Alongside the standard use of your Hisense TV remote to scroll through the apps, the most popular services also have dedicated buttons on the remote control. 

Alternatively, you can use the VIDAA OS universal search function to find each app faster, as well as VIDAA Voice. VIDAA Voice is a virtual assistant that lets you adjust the volume, change the channel, or search for content with just a few words.  

The VIDAA smartphone app can be used to control your TV, too, turning your handset into an advanced remote control. Whether you want to search for content, manage your account, or curate your favourite movies and series, the VIDAA app does it all, and is available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
