CafÉ Caprice
Where: Camp’s Bay Promenade
Why: With a laid-back sundowner menu and side-walk seating, it’ll be difficult to do anything other than unwind at this beautiful venue. Grab some friends, head to the beach, and when you’re packing it in for the day, head on over to Café Caprice for cocktails, delicious food, and a ’gram-worthy sunset. Withalmost everything on the menu, you can satisfy the cravings of salad-munchers or burger-busters. Noone will leave the deck unsatisfied. Why envy the influencer life when you have views like that? Justsit back and look out over the prom towards the ocean – there’s no better digestive.

Cocoon Cape Town
Where: ABSA building, 2 Riebeek Street
Why: Are you tired of the same-old same-old when it comes to spending an evening out? We think it’s time to introduce you to a super-club that aims to take over the Mother City. Take your clubbing to new heights, and what could be higher than the 31st floor? Aside from a view of Cape Town at your feet, this club offers the best in lighting and sound quality. Cocoon is comprised of two wings, with each one offering something new when it comes to music. It’s a two-in-one clubbing experience that you don’t want to miss out on.
The Catch: No ladies under 21, and gents need to be at least 23 to get in.

Calexico Vinyl Lounge
Where: 44 Stanley Avenue, Melville 
Why: This is one venue that has a lot to offer its customers. As you might have guessed from the name, this hotspot is bringing together the best of both worlds when it comes to its delicious Californian- and Mexican-inspired dishes, music, aesthetics, and dance. They also have nights dedicated to the art of vinyl deejaying, which is sure to get you all pumped up for a party. Live gigs and a vinyl fair are on offer too for those who are less about the party and more about the vibe. Gluten-free? Veggie? Have no fear, they have you covered. Just sit back and enjoy a range of dishes in this quirky space where Cali and Mexico combine seamlessly.

Harem

Why: Your typical night out is about to get an upgrade. It’s time for a VIP luxury nightclub experience, the kind where treating yourself gets a brand new perspective. Indulge in the luxury
that Jozi’s night scene has to offer. With more room for VIP seating, elegant decor and a state-
of-the-art sound system, you’ll feel all kinds of royal when you walk through these doors. Rub shoulders with South Africa’s elite and delve into the finer things that the nightlife has to offer.
The Catch: The VIP section is tiered, so if you want the top tier, you’re going to have to pay top dollar.

Dropkick Murphy’s

The Chairman
Where: 146 Mahatma Gandhi Road
Why: Designed as a place for people from all walks of life to come together and talk about politics, The Chairman quickly turned into a place of art. With beautiful decor, a gallery, live jazz music and mouth-wateringly good food, this watering hole has fast become Durban’s place to be. If you want more from an evening, then head to The Chairman, where your imagination will be stimulated and rules and conventions are left at the door. So if you’re looking for a stylish place to relax, have a few drinks, and listen to some of South Africa’s up-and-coming jazz musicians, there can be no better place for you. Just don’t forget to follow the dress code.
The Catch: Only open from Thursday to Saturday. The admission fee (R150) gets deducted from your bill.
