High-Paying Jobs In SA That Don’t Require A Degree

Did you know that there are some jobs that don’t require a degree? Don’t believe us? Read on...

So, your high school crew is off to university; their whole lives already planned out. But you’re not exactly the studious type, so you’re worrying about your career options and the chances of you succeeding in life.

Wait a minute, now. Don’t sell yourself short just because you won’t be getting a degree. We’ve got the scoop on some of the highest-paying jobs in South Africa that you won’t need a degree to qualify for.

Digital Marketer

If you’re a self-starter with great communication skills and love a good challenge, then digital marketing could be a great career choice for you – with loads of opportunities for growth down the line.

One online course and receiving a certificate from a digital training college away, you could get your foot through the door to a digital marketing company sooner than you think.

“LEARNING NEVER STOPS, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE OR LEVEL OF EXPERTISE IN A FIELD MAY BE.”

Real Estate Agent

According to local career experts, South African real estate agents easily accrue half a million rand per year or more. To be appointed as a qualified estate agent, all you would need is a shot at being an ‘intern agent’ (for at least 12 months) at a real estate agency that falls under the supervision of a qualified agent or principal.

After completing your 12 months and a logbook, you’ll be allowed to complete the NQF 4 course, which can be done online.

Web Developer

The demand for good web developers is constantly increasing due to technological innovation and new streams of revenue. Plus, the remuneration for these positions is more than ideal.

With web developing you’re able to learn online, teach yourself the ropes, and eventually set up your own online business portfolio. However, you can always up-skill with a diploma. Talented developers are estimated to make more than R1 million per year. How insane is that?

Invest In Your Career

Just because you don’t necessarily require a degree qualification, you should still work towards improving your skillset and work ethic. The following additions to your CV will make a big difference:

Volunteer Work:

Having an interest in helping animals or underprivileged communities in your spare time is a great way to show that you have a positive can-do attitude; are willing to help those in need; and are passionate.

Short Courses:

Learning never stops, no matter what your age or level of expertise in a field may be. There are helpful free resources, such as Udemy, YouTube and Skillshare, where you can educate yourself about anything.

Internships:

We all must start somewhere, right? Getting work experience, before leaping into your future career, will help to build your confidence and improve your work-readiness. It’s also a great opportunity for mentorship.
