The 411 on the latest TikTok trend

The latest TikTok trend that seems to be dominating our ‘For You Page’ at the moment is “the feminine urge:” What is this trend, you ask? We’ve got the tea!

The “feminine urge” trend describes a trait or something that a woman does that is so inherently feminine or relating to women that the majority of men would just not relate to, or understand at all! The “urge” part refers to how it either comes so naturally to women that they don’t even think about it. It also refers to things that women do that they are aware of but just can’t stop doing no matter how hard they try.

The “feminine urge” trend doesn’t have a specific sound attached to it like most TikTok trends so if you would like to see some examples, search for “feminine urge” in your search bar.

For the most part, this trend is pretty funny and harmless but a lot of the examples tap into a bigger issue of women feeling like they have to act a certain way to be accepted in the real world or feeling like they have to suppress who they really are because feminine qualities are seen as weak.

Still, confused? Here are some examples:

  1. The feminine urge to cry when your dad is trying to explain maths to you.
  1. The feminine urge to say, “do you still love me?” to your partner every 10 minutes.
  1. The feminine urge to ask why you can’t print money.
  1. The feminine urge to contemplate whether you should put a smiley face at the end of an email or not.
  1. The feminine urge to say, “does that make sense?” Even though it makes total sense.
  1. The feminine urge to apologise unnecessarily.
  1. The feminine urge to date someone that’s not your type and still getting played.
