Nokia T20 review

Tablets are enjoying a bit of a comeback as more people look to take their work away from their office desks, while others spend more time on the couch with their social feeds and half a dozen streaming services. We think Nokia is pursuing a very smart strategy with the Nokia T20. They have managed to deliver both style and substance at a very decent low price and that, together with the excellent build quality, won us over.

The T20 is a basic product but delivers in the areas that matter. At 2 000 × 1 200 pixels, the screen resolution is better than the standard Full HD and it’s covered with chemically toughened, scratch-resistant glass. You can get two full days of mixed use on the 8 200 mAh battery, and it charges over a USB-C port (hooray!). Processing power, RAM and storage are more than adequate for everyday tasks, but probably a little low if you’re doing serious business or multimedia work.

We found ourselves routinely choosing the T20 over our much more powerful (and pricey) tablets for two reasons. First, it’s wonderfully thin and just 470 g light, and the matt finish on the aluminium back cover delivers a more secure in-hand feel. Then Nokia’s no-frills approach, using standard Android without extra rubbish software cluttering up the interface, makes for a cleaner, more efficient experience.

Overall, the Nokia T20 exudes a no-nonsense air of confidence, and that’s backed up by its tough body shell and excellent build quality. What should matter more to users is Nokia’s guarantee that the T20 will promptly receive Android bug fixes and security updates and, over time, get both Android 12 and 13 upgrades.
