How To Achieve Bohemian Decor

Bohemian trends have been on the rise since the early 2000s in recent years, made popular by influences such as Sienna Miller and Zoë Kravitz. The boho-chic phenomenon caused women to flock towards stores, buying headbands, tasselled bags and colourful clothing. As of late, the trend has bubbled up into the homeware and decor scene, spilling into textiles and furniture. The boho look typically involves an eclectic mix of patterns, textures, natural elements and colours. You can achieve this homely bohemian look by adding these simple trends.

Mix Patterns  and Colours
Mix and match throw pillows like a pro. Bright colours with a mixture of florals, paisleys, ethnic, tribal and geometric patterns. If bright colours aren’t for you, try a mixture of bright pinks, mustard yellow and rusty oranges instead.

Use Natural and Rustic Finishes
The boho-chic style introduced new infusions of accessories that utilise natural materials, namely hemp, rattan, leather and wood. When choosing decor, think hanging plants, macramé, or leather footstools as a source of inspiration.

Use Vintage Pieces
Make your space unique by thrifting some vintage pieces. Focus on the 1960s and ’70s style that can elevate your space to its true boho appeal. A printed tribal rug can be just the beginning.

Wonky medium bowl in aluminium (18 × 4 cm)

Hurricane candle holder in pink footed glass (16 × 20 cm )

Go Casual
Most importantly, make sure to keep things causal. Your space should emphasise the free-spirit aesthetic, not imitate it. Make it your own and keep it fuss-free. The space should encourage chatting, reading, or playing games as opposed to watchingTV or hosting dinner partieS.
