Greenery & dreamy
While I may not have the best green fingers, this doesn’t stop me from trying to have plants wherever I can. Brightening up my bathroom with lush greenery is at the top of my list of easy ways to spruce up the space. For your bathroom, choose plants that do well in high-moisture areas and always consider the maintenance of the plant before committing to that beautiful fern
Something Woody
Bathrooms mean moisture, and plenty thereof. If you’re looking to include wood in this space, you need to think about the wood’s maintenance to ensure it lasts for a long period of time. In this way, you avoid replacing your floor every year. I suggest finding a modern sealing product that is perfect for interior wood. Something that is non-yellowing, simple to apply, easy to clean up, and brings a new dimension to protecting and beautifying wood, especially in spaces such as the bathroom.
A spa day
So while the year is in full swing and we are already a few months down, it would be a great idea to stop, take some time for yourself and enjoy a spa treatment in a beautiful setting. Tranquil pools and the soft sounds of nature create the ideal breakaway from the busyness of life to relax your body, unwind your mind and enjoy a massage or two. Sometimes we don’t realise how important it is to take those few moments to stop and recharge our batteries, so let this be your subtle reminder to do so
It’s a sign
Call them a fad, but neon lights are a fun and trendy way of including colour in a room. They fit in perfectly in an eclectic bathroom that’s smaller, darker and more on the modern edge of design. Keep your other fittings minimal and sleek – this allows the neon light to do most of the talking. A focal point that’s no longer reserved for just night clubs, try this trend out while it’s still hot.
Good as new
It’s important to achieve a good balance of form and function – combining aesthetics and elegance with functionality. If your bathroom is lacking in the looks department, then wash away the old and give your bathroom a brand-new using a product that is designed for use in high- moisture areas, a product that is available in an aerosol and refinishing kit. The two-part, epoxy acrylic system bonds to ceramic tile, fibreglass, cast iron and steel tubs, so you can easily transform your bathroom. Proper surface preparation is vital for the successful application so pay careful attention to the package instructions. Allow the coating to cure for three days before exposing to water. You’ll be amazed at the high-gloss finish similar to porcelain.
The art of tea
Over time, I’ve learnt to appreciate a great cup of tea for its relaxing qualities and calming experience. Just recently, I attended a full tea experience at O’ways NIGIRO Teacafe, complete with ice tea, rooibos tea, green tea and bubble tea. It’s safe to say that I was not disappointed! The variety was one thing, but the whole process of the tea brewing was fascinating, too. Certainly a tea lover’s dream, and a place where I’d take every member of my family for a visit.
