Celeb couples we love love

Love is notoriously fickle in celebrityville, which is why famous couples who share a genuine connection are so inspiring. We shine a spotlight on celeb duos who remind us that true love conquers all.

Musa and Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni

TV presenter and medical doctor Musa Mthombeni and his wife, broadcaster and Miss SA 2015 Liesl Laurie- Mthombeni tied the knot after dating for two years in 2021, and have been going strong for nearly three years of wedded bliss. We love how they dote on each other in their social media posts and in interviews, always full of praise for each other and clearly smitten – with a healthy dose of humour!

Watch them dancing together in their pre-Valentine’s Day dinner date and tell us they don’t melt your heart.

Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo

Arguably one of South Africa’s most powerful couples (together for 27 years!) , this duo have had each other’s backs through thick and thin – most notably, during a lengthy court battle with author and media personality Jackie Phamotse. The pair successfully sued Jackie for defamation after she reportedly tweeted in 2018 about the existence of a sex tape of the Kumalos and another male celebrity. It’s enough to put any relationship to the test, but the Kumalos have come through smiling, more united than ever.

Just look who Basetsana’s pre-Valentine’s date was for #mancrushmonday…

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith

In the spirit of modern love, there is a lot to admire about the almost three-decade-long love affair between Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Even though they recently announced that they had been separated, the couple seem to have found a genuinely loving way to remain close and to coparent their children. It seems that both together and ‘apart’ (Jada says divorce is not an option and she will never leave Will), their commitment to each other through good times and bad is unwavering, as is their dedication to their two children, and their willingness to create space for each other’s growth. But perhaps what we love most is Will’s support for Jada as she struggled with alopecia (an autoimmune disease which causes hair loss), and his willingness to step back as she came into her own power as an author, talk-show host and inspiration to countless women. They may not be together in the conventional sense, yet they’ve managed to maintain a bond that is clear for all to see. “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together,” she told PEOPLE Magazine recently. “We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”
