5-Minute Make-Up Tips

We’ve all had one of those mornings where we’ve had to drag ourselves out of bed because we could no longer afford to snooze our alarm another time without us arriving late to work. As much as we like looking put together for work and serving some Beyonce “I woke up like this” the truth is that most of us women wake up frizzy haired and crusty eyed. That being said, dedicating 5 minutes to makeup when we’re pressed for time is enough to have us looking flawless.

Multi-purposed Products

Reach for products that are multi-purposed such as a BB cream or tinted moisturiser. This will save you the added time of applying foundation on over your dedicated lotion routine. Coverage products evens out your complexion and helps to reduce the appearance of those designer bags under your eyes. Extra points if your coverage product has a bit of sun protection too. If your under-eye circles are stubborn because you’ve had one too many late nights binge watching your favourite series then warm your favourite concealer between your fingers and tap it over the area where you feel it’s needed.

Minimalistic

If your liner skills have your wings looking uneven on the best of days then don’t bother spending time perfecting the angle of your liner. Instead, bust out your favourite eyeshadow palette to execute a universally flattering smoky eye in seconds. If you’re looking to be subtle sweep a barely there brown or nude colour across your lids and finish off with mascara. If you have extra seconds, sweep a shimmering of darker brown along the top lid to make a bold statement.

Shine Bright

We all love a natural looking glow but sometimes sleep deprivation or the general stresses of being a working mom means that you don’t always wake up with radiant looking skin. Our solution? Highlight, highlight, highlight! A brush of highlighter on your cheekbones, in the inner corners of the eyes and on your cupid’s bow will give you luminous skin. If you’re fair, use a frosty white shade; for medium skin tones use a pink-champagne hue; and for dark skin reach for a pale gold powder.

Mascara

Mascara provides you with 8 hours of solid sleep in a tube. Standard black mascara should do the trick.Focus on your top lashes making sure to wiggle your wand and work it upwards to open up the eye area. Sweep on as many coats as you feel is needed and don’t forget to get those wispy lashes on the inner corners of your eyes as working these babies will awaken your tired eyes in an instant. There’s no need to coat your lower lashes as they tend to smudge and lead to black dots on your eyes.
