Spring Clean 101

It’s about time we all gave our homes a bit of a spring clean, don’t you think? With Hayfever season starting and all sorts of allergies on the way, it’s best to get your spaces sterilised and hygienic. A clean space means a clean mind and optimal functioning. We’ve decided to give you guys a few tips on how to give your homes a brand new look and feel. Think of this as your personal ‘Spring Clean 101’.

Start by dusting and wiping down your work area. This could be your office or even your lounge area – basically wherever it is that you sit down to get tasks done. Then begin assembling your optimal work environment and add personal touches, such as a scented candle, miniature plant or motivational wall art. It’s all about setting the right tone to create a productive atmosphere.

Did you know that spices and herbs get old? This can attract germs and bacteria, which will make your food storage compartments unhygienic. Get rid of old packets and bottles and replace with new cooking additives. Glass jars or stainless steel tins are great options for re-packing your pantry and keeping your goodies sealed and fresh. They’re also great for sorting your food stuff and you could even add labels to them.

Your make-up is not something that lasts forever. Mascara needs to be tossed after three months and your beloved make-up brushes will need to go every one to five years, as bacteria piles on after time. It also becomes one hell of an unsightly mess when product smears get everywhere and stain surfaces. Wipe everything away with a multi-purpose cleaner, then polish, and go on to sterilize all containers.

Keep your investment buys looking brand new buy creating clean, open spaces for them to be stored. Sterilise your hangers and hang things up rather than folding them. If you don’t have much space, get rid of wooden cupboards and opt for a clothing rack or two. This is a trendy way to store and display your favourite items.
