3 tips to avoid the year-end slump

As the year is winding down and we are on the doorstep of the festive season, it’s normal to feel tired and less motivated. Giving 100% at work can make you feel like those poolside mimosas and endless days at the beach cannot come soon enough. Need that last push until the end of the year? Here are three top tips to fuel your motivation at work for the last stretch of 2024.

Focus on time management

Lost control of your day? Meetings and distractions can quickly throw off your schedule, making you feel even more hopeless than before. It takes meticulous planning to structure your workday effectively. Live by your calendar. According to life coach Rachida Benamar, a great to-do list hack is to calendarise your list. After creating your task list for the day, open your electronic calendar and schedule your tasks into your day.

Declutter your workspace

Your slump can often leave you without motivation to keep your desk neat and tidy. Decluttering your space not only reduces anxiety, but a neat desk can improve your concentration. It can also cause fewer distractions. No more searching through stacks of paper for that invoice or scrambling everywhere for a pen. Fewer distractions can help you stay focussed and knock those deadlines out of the park.

@lucytheorganiser 🚨 Your office should inspire productivity, not chaos! 🖥️✨ Let’s be real, how much time do you waste looking for that one sticky note or that missing pen? 🖊️ Here’s my top tips to transform your office into a productivity powerhouse: 1️⃣ Declutter & Prioritise: Only keep the essentials. Say goodbye to old papers, random knick-knacks, and unnecessary supplies. Less clutter = less stress! 2️⃣ Create Zones: Designate spaces for different tasks. – One area for stationary ✏️ – One area for tech 💻 – And one area for paperwork 📄 3️⃣ Use Organising Products: Drawer tray inserts for stationary, filing system for documents and tubs for tech gadgets. Everything should have its place! 4️⃣ Daily Reset: Spend 5 minutes at the end of each day tidying up your desk. Dress for productivity

Did you know the way you dress for work can also influence your productivity? If you are feeling lower than usual, dress it ‘til you make it – especially if you are working from home. “The theory of ‘enclothed cognition’ tells us that wearing clothes with certain associations can lead to you emulating those associations. Getting dressed into something you associate with being productive is likely to make you more productive,” explains fashion psychologist Dr Dion Terrelonge.
