In the Bag of La’eeqa Yunus

Not only is she the make-up artist for beauty giants Essence and Catrice, she is also personal make-up artist to Cindy Nell! We can definitely learn a thing or two from La’eeqa Yunus.

What is your top tip for skincare?

Drink lots of water and always wear sunblock, even in winter. It’s the best anti-ager ever! Remember your face ends on your chest, so take your products down on to your neck and chest area too, as this area shows signs of ageing first.

How many items do you have in your personal make-up bag?

Too many to count. But in my run-around bag, I always have a powder to take away shine, lip gloss, lipstick, eyelash glue and mascara.

We recommend: Essence Lash Princess False Lash effect Mascara Waterproof

What are your go-to hair products?

I have dry hair, so I always invest in a mask. I cannot live without my Fanola no-yellow shampoo and mask. As I’m not a natural blonde, I have to maintain the colour and prevent it going yellow. I also cannot live without my L’Oréal Paris Magic Retouch Instant Root Concealer Spray to cover up my grey hairs. It helps me in between salon visits.

Bronzer or blusher?

Definitely bronzer – I always want to look snatched.

What’s the one skincare product you can’t live without?

My eye cream!

We recommend: Clarins Total Eye Lift Concentrate

What does your beauty maintenance schedule look like?

I have my nails done once a month, eyebrows threaded every two weeks, lashes filled every three weeks and my hair colour refreshed every three months. I also do derma pen and botox on my forehead.

I wake up at …

5.30 am. I like to start my day early because I hate rushing and being flustered. I also have kids that
I need to get ready for school.

The first thing I do is …

kiss my babies good morning. I am a mom to two beautiful boys aged 13 and 8. I stay fit by … cycling and walking on the treadmill. I have also recently started being more conscious of what I eat and try to make healthier choices. Excess processed sugar can speed up the ageing process by causing wrinkles and dehydration.

My all time favourite fragrance is…

Armani Sì .

If I only had time to apply one make-up item it would be …

concealer under my eyes to cover up any dark circles, so I look more awake and put-together.

Start  with CATRICE HD Liquid Coverage Foundation. I love the CATRICE Neon Earth Palette for its warm browns. I use the darkest brown to line my eyes then I coat my lashes in CATRICE Glam & Doll Waterproof Mascara. I contour by using Essence Mattifying Compact Powder in shade no 70 (R62.95) along the forehead, down the sides of the nose, between the cheekbones and jawline and underneath the jawline. I use CATRICE Baked Royal Highlighter Palette to highlight cheekbones, bridge of the nose, under the brow bone and the inner eyes, then sweep blush across the apples of my cheeks. Lastly, I line lips with CATRICE Lip Foundation Lip Pencil in Cool Brown,  then apply CATRICE Generation Matt Liquid Lipstick and apply a lipgloss over the top. Finally, a quick spritz of the CATRICE HD active performance freezing setting spray to set everything in place.
