Spring or summer are a great excuse to revisit your grooming routines. We’ve got you covered with an A–Z that serves you in every season
A – Actives
Invest in nourishing active ingredients like hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides and ceramides. Actives target imbalances and lock in your natural moisture.
B – Beard
Trim, shape, oil and do all the things that will keep your beard fresh. Even a natural, unshaped style needs a little TLC.
C – Cologne
Don’t overdo it! Sharing a fresh waft with a lover is not the same as sharing it with a wide radius of strangers and colleagues.
D – Dry Shampoo
It reduces the strain on your hair from overwashing and constantly layering styling products.
E – Exfoliate
Exfoliate at least once a week to keep your skin clear of dead skin cells and clogged pores. If your nose is prone to black and white heads, invest in a pack of nose strips too.
F – Fragrance
Fragrance elevates your mood, boosts your confidence and gets you in the spring of things.
G – Gadgets
Into tech? Why not try some grooming goodies that will get you excited about your routine. It could be as simple as an app or electric toothbrush or as extra as automated dispensers!
H – Hydration
It may seem obvious, and by now it should be, that hydration starts on the inside. Load up on tons of water and fresh produce to boost your nutrient and water intake. The health of your skin is a reflection of what you put into your body!
I – Ingrown Hairs
Apply a specialised product, then wiggle to grab the hair with a pair of tweezers and release the trapped part only. If you don’t feel confident doing this – let your lover do what lovers do! (Or visit a salon or spa!)
J – Jetsetter
Invest in a travel bag you can be proud of. Roll-ups, zipper pouches or a small hold-all are just some ways to up your cool-travel cred – and it’s practical too!
K – K-beauty
Think K-beauty is only trending for the gals? Nope! We warn you, you’ll be hooked on the minimalist gender-neutral packaging, clean ingredients and glowing results!
L – Lips
Buff your lips often and always have a good nourishing balm to stay as kissable and flake-free as possible.
M – Masks
Treat yourself to an overnight mask to boost hydration or pop one on after work while chilling.
N – Nutrients
Your diet and metabolism plays a significant role in the health of your skin … and for ageing like fine wine.
O – Oil Cleanser
They’re less drying than soapy formulas and help prevent acne flare ups!
P – Pigmentation
If you are prone to pigmentation, make sure you’re taking care of it with a product suited to your skin (get advice!). SPF is a big part of this, if not to prevent or fade pigmentation, at least to keep it from worsening.
Q – Quality
Don’t bother with a complex routine filled with cheap products. If you want to groom properly, opt for just two or three quality products with great ingredients suited to your skin – it’s a far better investment.
R – Razor sharp
Invest in a decent, comfort-glide razor, replace the blades more often than you think you should and use a good product to assist the glide.
S – SPF
Don’t skimp on this, it’s not just about the risks associated with exposure, it plays a significant role in preventing lines and pigmentation for all skin tones!
T – Teeth
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss regularly and remember to freshen up after a meal or nap to prevent cavities.
U – Upskill
You upskill to do better professionally, so why not research, learn and apply the same to your grooming and wellness routine? Get curious about your skin and body!
V – Vitamin B3
Vitamin B3 (1) is also known as nicotinamide. It promotes repair of the skin’s natural barrier by stimulating the production of lipids in the skin.
W – Workout
Exercise is not only about peak fitness. It stimulates blood flow which in turn helps your body to efficiently metabolise nutrients (for maximum absorption) and expel toxins via your lymph nodes, kidneys and liver.
X – X-files
Do not, and we really mean DO NOT, call your ex. Mind ONLY the business of your skin, health and wellness – while they mind theirs.
Y – Yoghurt
Yoghurt is a fantastic probiotic that enhances the gut microbiota and can boost your immune system, which in turn benefits your skin!
Z – Zits
Instead of popping your zips, let a dot of toothpaste dry on your spots. Alternatively, opt for a pure tea tree oil to dry and keep the zit free of bacteria.
