Keep the glow going straight through the colder months with our guide to minimal effort summer skin in winter.
Dewy Summer Skin
Just because it’s winter, doesn’t mean you have to leave your glowy summer skin behind. Fresh, dewy skin is especially suitable for winter as you can work with the lack of humidity in the air by intentionally layering on extra moisture. On a clean, hydrated canvas, start with a cream highlighter on the high points of the face, such as the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, Cupid’s bow, and above and underneath the eyebrows, by blending in the product with your fingers. Then, with a blending brush, apply foundation only to the areas needing coverage so that skin can still show through. For a seamless and natural look, start in the middle of the face and blend outwards to avoid focusing coverage on the hairline and towards the neck.
Flushed Cheeks
Nothing screams summer like flushed cheeks, sotake the look into winter by sticking to a subtle flush without the addition of bronzer. Again, using your fingers to blend, work a cream blusher on to the apples of your cheeks, and take it all the way up to the temples and slightly across your nose for a believable blush. For a longer-lasting and more intense colour, use a tinted formula underneath your foundation, and then the cream formula on top.
Lush Lashes
A simple swipe of a cream-based eyeshadow is enough when full, fluttery lashes are the focus. Stick to a rose-gold or bronze colour and blend it across the entire lid. Add multiple coats of a volumising mascara to the top and bottom lashes by working the wand into the roots and wriggling up and outwards.
Finishing Touches
To complete the look, fill in brows in sparse areas with hair-like strokes and set with a brow gel to keep hair perfectly in place. Add a slick of lip gloss with a slight colour payoff to tie in with the dewiness of the rest of your face. Leave the setting powder aside, unless absolutely necessary, for a fresh face that appears glowy and healthy.
