The 2017 VMA’s

We love the dances, drama and creative storylines we see on our screens each time a popular music video plays, and each year fans all around the world wait in anticipation to see who will win a coveted Video Music Award. Well, it’s that time of the year!

The 2017 MTV VMA’s just took place a few hours ago at The Forum arena in Inglewood, California, and it’s left many fans completely mind-boggled. Basketball balloons dropped all over the ecstatic crowd after Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj gave one hell of a performance to their newest collaborative hit, ‘Swish Swish’. Lorde had everybody confused with her ball gown look (a highly unusual style choice for the grungy artist) and lip syncing performance, and then there was Kendrick Lamar’s epic performance, of course, and Miley Cyrus’s eye-popping fuchsia-infused performance. However, it was DJ Khaled’s son Asahd, who stole the hearts of everyone in the crowd, as he made an adorable appearance on stage during the event.

In terms of awards, there were some shocking wins and losses. Pink finally bagged the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her amazing and on stage presence. Her speech was absolutely breathtaking and her medley performance left the room vibrating with joy and celebratory applause. The girls of Fifth Harmony went home with a well-deserved award for Best Pop Video. Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift won Best Collaboration Video, for their ht  ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, off the Fifty Shades Darker movie soundtrack. And it was no surprise at all that Video of the Year went to Kendrick Lamar for ‘Humble’.

All in all, it was an eventful evening, but the real stars of the night were the outfits donned on the red carpet! This year we were presented with an odd array of various style choices, and there wasn’t really a popular trend to pick up on, other than a gravitation towards red, all things sparkly and textural silhouettes.
