The 411 On Dynamic Duo Geo & Amron Siebritz

Twins Amron and Geovanna Siebritz made TikTok’s top-ten list of content creators in SA recently, and for young women of colour, that’s no small feat. The duo chats to us about their budding careers and why representation of women of colour is so important to them.

Naturally, these two are joined at the hip, sharing clothes and friends, and reaching notable milestones together. Today, they’re seen all over South Africa, whether it be in trending fashion campaigns, viral TikTok videos, or at praise-and-worship events with their church family. It’s safe to say that these two inspiring ladies never miss out on a single moment of each other’s lives.

Sister, Sister!

“We were besties since birth. We never liked being apart for too long, but that doesn’t mean we never fought”, the two joke at first. “We fought all the time but made up literally minutes after. We always had each other’s backs – and best believe that if anyone messed with the one twin, they had to deal with the other!”

Over the years, Amron and Geo have forged a powerful sisterhood, a truly unbreakable bond where they’ve promised to take care of each other till the very end. And even though Geo has married and become a mom to a baby boy, the two believe in always making time for one another and making their dreams come true as a unit.

With both ladies listing quality time as their love language, we asked them to share their plans for Valentine’s Day. “This year – for the month of love – we will have our usual sister lunch date to celebrate and maybe watch some good old chick flicks together. That’s always been our thing”, the two express.

“TAKE HEART AND TAKE COURAGE IN YOUR FAITH. IT COULD HELP CHANGE (OR EVEN SAVE) SOMEONE’S LIFE”

Women On A Mission

Something extremely close to their hearts is empowering South African women of colour, especially those in coloured communities, who are continuously marginalised and facing injustice on multiple levels. “It’s not easy being a woman of colour”, the twins express. “So, we want our success to be encouraging to women – especially women of colour. It’s proof that anything is possible if you work at it and fight for what’s right.”

With social media, these days, everyone has an opinion and there’s a culture of trolling and bashing that’s become the norm. “We need to support one another and not talk down to or belittle each other. There’s too much negativity going around, and we need to try to not add to it. Listen attentively to your bestie, sister, or colleague, and work through your disagreements. We should not be each other’s enemies. And most importantly, remember to have fun and build some-thing great together – whether it’s a business or an idea. Life is just too short!”

In addition to uplifting women of colour through their work, the twins are advocates for faith and religious freedom, conveying the message online that although having a personal relationship with God or being on a ‘spiritual’ journey may not be ‘trendy’ to society, it provides guidance and support that can enrich your life beyond all the worldly things. “We shouldn’t be afraid to spread God’s word”, Geovanna expresses. “We are often afraid, though, to tell others about Him because we worry about other people’s reactions: ‘Will they laugh at me, ridicule me or persecute me for my beliefs or the way I feel?’… We shouldn’t let fear stop us from sharing the good news about God. Take heart and take courage in your faith. It could help change (or even save) someone’s life.”

“WE’RE HERE TO ENCOURAGE WOMEN – AND ESPECIALLY WOMEN OF COLOUR – THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU WORK AT IT AND FIGHT FOR WHAT’S RIGHT. SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER AND DON’T TALK DOWN OR BELITTLE EACH OTHER.”

Twin Flames

So, how did their career success start? You guessed it: By taking a leap of faith together. “Since we were kids, we always loved fashion and entertaining. It came naturally to us long before social media blew up”, the sisters explain. “Growing up, we always put on shows for our family. We would style our friends, and even rearrange their closets. We always knew we were going to start a business together, but we never knew how.”

Today, they’ve amassed a huge online following organically, offering viewers relatable and motivational content and working with top local and international brands such as Nivea, Simba, Hi Online, Puma and loads more. “We’re just being ourselves, and we’re extremely grateful to be doing what we do”, they continue.

Aside from modelling and creating content, the two have both furthered their tertiary education, with Amron obtaining her BTech degree in retail business management, and Geo being a PR management grad. These two are known for their impeccable fashion sense, no matter what the style or occasion. So, it was no surprise when they launched G&A Couture clothing – a fashion line geared towards neutral palettes and stylish quality – in 2019. “We’ve always been passionate about fashion, and in primary school we made a pact to own our own clothing brand that would be fashionable and affordable”, they explain.

“In high school, we started watching Keeping up with the Kardashians and we saw how those sisters developed a clothing brand together, and we were even more motivated. That’s how G&A Couture was born. Our brand is elegant, trendy, fun and affordable. We just hope to continue growing the business and being more consistent as we’re currently busy with our new range.” The two express that going further into 2023, they also hope to get more involved with NGOs, do lots of community work and outreach together, and grow a closer bond with God.
