Cloud skin
After trying to perfect the glowing glass skin trend, it’s on its way out again, and we find ourselves back in the soft, matte era (again). That’s right – cloud skin is doing the rounds on TikTok. But what exactly is cloud skin? “It’s like dewy skin and matte skin had a baby, and it’s going to be trending so hard for spring,” says beauty TikToker Victoria Lyn.
The first step in getting cloud skin is to prep and hydrate your face. Then, mix your matte foundation with a mattifying primer and press it into your skin with a damp sponge. Blend until revealing a fluffy concoction of cloud skin foundation with just the right amount of sheer so that it doesn’t look dull or flat.

Blush draping
Nineties kids, this one is for you. Blush is having a moment, and we are here for it. Blush draping is a ’70s make-up technique to contour your face using blush. In the 2023 version of this flashback trend, you can use liquid-, loose- or powder blush to drape softer shades like plum, peach and coral and blend them into the eyeshadow. This seamless blush appearance is a great vibrant look for summer.

Faux freckles
Like baggy jeans and overlined lips, this trend keeps making the rounds. Create natural-looking faux freckles with brown liquid eyeliner and setting spray (water can also work) – and the technique is so simple. Using a brown liquid eyeliner, liberally make brown spots on your fingertips and spray your fingers with the setting spray. Then, press your dotted fingers over your nose and upper cheek area and voila! The perfect sun-kissed look – without the sun damage.

Micro French manicure
Think of it as yet another upgrade of the classic French manicure. But, instead of longer nails, we’re opting for short nails and vibrant colours. And it’s easy enough to DIY at home (skip paying an arm and a leg for a manicure). After applying a base coat, use a striping brush to create a thin line along the tips of your nails. Wait until your nails are dry and apply a second topcoat.
