Relationship Advice From Our Favourite Celeb Couples

Hollywood couples aren’t usually the first port of call for relationship advice, but there are some couples whose love has stood the test of time, and we could learn a thing or two from them. Here are some of our favourite couples who embody #RelationshipGoals.

John Legend’s secret to a happy marriage with Chrissy Teigen

When John Legend dedicated his hit song ‘All of Me’ to his wife, TV personality, model cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, and cast her as the main character in the music video, women around the world swooned. The pair first met on the set for his music video for ‘Stereo’ in 2006 and became inseparable. Recently, John revealed that he wasn’t always a great partner, and attributes this to his emotional immaturity when they first met.

In an interview with Jay Shetty on his podcast On Purpose, he said, ‘I think I was more selfish then. I wasn’t a great partner at the beginning of our relationship. Even though I was very into her and very excited to be with her. I was still selfish. I was in my mid-20s, still not ready to fully be the committed partner that I am now.’ Well, we can all be forgiven for the mistakes we made at that life stage!

Oprah Winfrey’s beautiful relationship with longtime partner Stedman Graham

Oprah relationship with Stedman proves that you don’t need to be married for it to be real. The couple has been together for more than three decades, and despite Oprah’s continued fame and fortune, Stedman has remained by her side since 1986.

On the topic of being in a relationship with someone with such a high level of success, Stedman has said, ‘We want each other to succeed. And I want her to succeed and to be as successful as she possibly can, so I encourage that.’ Oprah echoed his sentiments in an interview on US talk show Hoda & Jenna & Friends: ‘I’d been through a lot of “woof woofs.” You get to the point when you say, “No more.” I actually said, “This is what I want. Someone who is kind. Someone who is loyal.” And that’s what I have.’

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s epic love story

Kristen and Dax (together since 2007) are not just an inspiration because of their down-to-earth personalities – they keep things real. During her multiple appearances on Dax’s podcast, Armchair Expert, Kristen has talked about the difficulties they’ve faced in their marriage and dished out advice on how to deal with different perspectives.

Kristen touched on this in an interview with US Weekly: ‘… Never roll your eyes at someone … You might as well break up right then, because it’s contempt. I’m telling you – I disagree with him on almost everything, but I have intense respect for his critical thinking skills and the fact that we were raised differently. I always see his point. I do not and will not ever have contempt for him.’

Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith’s forever kind of love

Most celebrities naturally gravitate towards other famous people, but some celebrities have quietly been building their relationship out of the spotlight. James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has been married to his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, for 22 years, and is known for dropping sweet anecdotes about her, like this one about how he felt when he first met her in 1994: ‘Wherever I went in the world I missed her, and I’d send her tickets to come so we could be together. We just seemed to fit. I found a great woman in Keely Shaye. Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.’ Isn’t that beautiful?
