There’s no doubt kids love an epic car race, so get their blood pumping with some awesome go-karting at Wicked Karting, which has outlets based in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Amanzimtoti. Children from 8 years old and upwards can get a dose of speed and adrenaline here. Go-karting is obviously an especially fun group activity, so keep it in mind the next time you’re planning a birthday celebration.

The Shred Skatepark
Western Cape
Young fans of skateboarding, rollerblading, BMX biking and scooter riding will love The Shred Skatepark, which offers them the chance to show off their skills. Just make sure they’re properly supervised. Book three-hour sessions between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and weekends. Also check out Open Nights on Tuesdays, which are for skateboarding, rollerblading and scooter riding, as well as Skate Nights on Wednesdays, which are exclusively for skateboarders. These nights last from 6pm to 8pm. The Shred is also home to Eiland Eatery, where you can grab a quick bite.

Saddle Creek Adventures

Your kids can enjoy both quad biking and go-karting at Saddle Creek Adventures. There are Mini Quad Rides which children between five and nine years old can enjoy, while teenagers will have fun on the longer regular rides. Children younger than 12 can accompany older riders on regular rides as passengers. As for go-karting, kids must be at least 10 years old to participate, and can ride for five, eight or ten laps.
Quad Biking:
30 minutes: R425 pp and R135 per child under 12 going as passenger
45 minutes: R625 pp and R185 per child under 12 going as passenger

The Bike Park at Constantia Uitsig
Western Cape
If the kids are longing for an open area in which to hone their bike riding skills, The Bike Park at Constantia Uitsig is the place for them. Bathed in sunlight, this spot ensures that kids get a healthy dose of outside fun. The Bike Park is open seven days a week between 9am and 5pm, and bookings must be made prior to arrival. Spectators are welcome, and there is no charge for them. This is also a great place for birthday parties to be held.

Go-Kart Racing at Boardwalk
Eastern Cape
Kids looking for thrills in Port Elizabeth can find them at an outdoor go-kart racing track based at Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World. With the wind in the hair, they’ll get their adrenaline pumping while they practice their go-karting skills. Go-kart racing at Boardwalk opens on Fridays between 4pm and 10pm, on Saturdays between 11am and 10pm, and on Sundays between 11am and 10pm.
